What are Exit Planning Services?

FE International’s exit planning service is perfect for business owners who want to sell in the future but are not ready yet.

Your time is valuable. It should be spent operating and growing your business instead of worrying about missing out on new opportunities. With our tried and tested exit plan coaching, you will learn which steps to take to get to your greatest value today.

These services help maximize the value of your business with minimal time commitment, so that you’re ready to exit on your strongest foot—whether that time is now or down the road.

How it Works:

Each business owner’s goals are different–that’s why we offer sessions that are uniquely tailored to the needs of your business.

Once a quarter, you’ll meet with your dedicated exit plan team to update your metrics, review your valuation, and demonstrate your progress since the last meeting. During the session, we’ll help identify key areas of growth and chances to improve while setting new goals that will help increase your valuation.

Our exit planning service has no long-term commitment, so you can benefit from our expertise and strategic guidance at your convenience. Plus, you can email us as regularly as you want between sessions. All exit-planning fees will be credited against any future M&A success fees with us.

Our Service Answers Questions Like:

  • What are your exit goals—what can you sell for and when is the right time?
  • Are you ready to sell—is your business exit-ready and are you able to transition out of it smoothly?
  • How could your valuation and your business metrics potentially improve?
  • Does your team have the right people? Is your business structured correctly for an exit?
  • Did any competitors find an exit recently? Does that change your timing or the exit value?
  • Are your shareholders aligned on the goals and timelines of the transaction?
  • What do successful founders do next? Are you ready to go on to your next project?

Our Process:

1
Exit Goals & Readiness
  • Discover your personal, financial, and operational objectives as a business owner seeking an exit.
  • Find strategic alignment among shareholders and reduce friction in leadership.
2
Valuation & Industry Analysis
  • Understand your company’s value and how it is determined.
  • Learn about M&A transactions in your target market and how they might influence your deal.
  • Set realistic price expectations and identify opportunities to enhance value with metrics like EBITDA multiples, revenue growth, market share, gross margins, customer lifetime value (CLV), and other industry-specific KPIs.
3
Team & Business Structure
  •  Prepare the business for a transition of leadership both operationally and financially.
  • Balance leadership responsibilities to minimize ‘key-person risk,’ which can reduce exit value.
  •  Organize financial records, optimize operations, document processes, build a strong management team, and minimize legal risks.
4
Continuous Financial Benchmarking
  • Regular performance benchmarks against historical performance and market peers, allowing owners to optimize operations.
  • Periodic valuation updates help owners track changes in market conditions, providing a real-time sense of value creation and potential timing for a sale.
  • Ongoing insights help owners create proactive strategy adjustments, address emerging risks, and prioritize high-impact initiatives.
5
Life After Exit
  • Determine your future after the exit—whether that’s continuing responsibilities, like a gradual transition of leadership or maintaining a seat on the board.
  • Reduce the complexity and risk of starting a new business initiative.
6
Commitment-Free Service
  • Grow at your speed with flexible service agreements that include no long-term commitments.
  • Find confidence in high-level valuations, initial exit-readiness assessments, and current market analysis without the pressure of a binding contract.
